WESLEY ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL

3 Sunday School Electives for Adults to choose from:

Wrestling with Words.  Since the Garden of Eden people have sought to better understand God and God’s will.  One tool that’s often been used are words.  ‘Preachers have used words to preach, counselors to counsel and prophets to prophesy.  “Ordinary” people use words to share, console, and sometimes to argue.  Writers have also utilized the written word in their creations, directly and indirectly, to address God.  Participants in this class will read one book every 2-3 months and meet for a 3-4 week period to discuss, debate, and help on another understand. We’ll be reading mostly contemporary and classic works, but not exclusively fiction. Our first book will be the novel A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley. The class will be facilitated by Roy Rineer: 464-9870.

Short Term Studies is designed to offer participants the opportunity to meet God and grow through Bible study. Topics such as prayer, commitment, character, etc. will be studied in approximately 6-week sessions. Making use of study booklets which often incorporate Bible lesson with study questions, the class will provide a welcoming atmosphere for those who might be new to a Bible study. The class will be facilitated by Carol Rice: 687-7363.

Parents with children is designed for those parents who have children at home. Recognizing that it takes ‘a village to raise a child’ a chief goal of the class is to provide a place for parents to share in     conversation and fellowship. This class is discussing issues such as being stressed, overwhelmed and exhausted and how to juggle all of our responsibilities in a godly manner. The study is called, Weird   because normal isn’t working by Craig Groeschel. The class will be co-facilitated by Carrie Patterson: 687.7665 & Deanna Geiter: 687.6392. With Carrie’s experience as a pre-school teacher and Deanna experience as Youth Director, this promises to be a class parents do not want to miss!
